Rebel From Birth took it to East London to have a chat with the young entrepreneur and nail-stylist, ‘Imarni Nails.’
‘Imarni Nails’ is a high fashion nail-art bar located in Boxpark, Shoreditch. Imarni gave us some amazing entrepreneurial tips as well as letting us in on some of her favourite fashion go-to’s.
So, what inspired you to start the ‘Imarni Nail’ movement?
So, I guess, what inspired me, I’ve always done nails, beauty and hair, make up and I just preferred doing nails. Then I just, did that, I left school, I did nails. Then I started getting into nail-art, and there really isn’t many nail-art places in London and then we started doing more nail-art that was a bit more wearable, and not so cartoon-like. So, then I thought I’d be fun to open somewhere in East London, like Shoreditch, people would love it. We opened up like maybe a year and half ago now and it’s done really well. So, yeah…
Does the Brick Lane, Shoreditch atmosphere go well with the atmosphere of your shop?
Yes! Definitely. Well, East London, this part of East London particularly Bethnal Green Road and Shoreditch they used to be really rough areas, and really run-down, no one would come here, and now it’s like the main area. There’s Shoreditch House, Shoreditch House is like a members-only club, it’s for elite people, celebs are always in there, like Lindsay Lohan was in there the other day. And then at Spitafields, they helped London Fashion Week out this season, they’re opening a Chanel there, just down the road they’re opening a Verserce, it’s such an up and coming area, there’s such a mix of really, really rich and then people that aren’t that rich, it’s a nice mix.
It’s better to have a community like that…
Exactly, I wouldn’t wanna go somewhere really, really posh, and I wouldn’t wanna go somewhere that’s a little bit too, you know…

What is your favourite nail-design?
Well, summer time I really liked different coloured tips or like tips with a pattern on, like a red tip with flowers or something like that. At the moment, cause it’s getting into winter the colours are getting a bit darker now, I prefer winter designs to summer designs, they always seem a bit nicer, winter designs to summer designs I just think they look a bit classier, summers quite bright and UV and winter’s like golds and reds and it just looks a bit classier.

So, Rebel From Birth is all about, doing what you want, being what you want. What does “Rebel” mean to you, personally?
Naughty, Rebellious, Bad.
Would you associate any of that to yourself, maybe when you were growing up, or?
No, not rebel! I’m definitely not rebellious… -laughs-
So, trainers, I love trainers! What is your all-time favourite pair of trainers?
I wear Reebok Classics a lot, I just think Reebok Classics are a bit more simpler, rather than really in your face trainers or very clean trainers, I like trainers to look more worn.
What street-wear brands do you like to keep up with? Or what do you like wearing on a regular basis?
I’m not really good with stuff like that, I’m really bad with fashion, if I’ve got an event or I’m going out, I’ll just run round to any shop that’s not too expensive, there’s an Urban Outfitters round the corner from here, and I’ll just go in there constantly, because it’s near, and it’s not too expensive and I can just find something. I’m not really one to be on the Internet looking. But, Urban Outfitters, only because it’s so near. It’s a bit bad, I’ve got friends that are really fashionable and they collect like all the Versace and things like that but I just can’t be bothered.
Is there one pair of trainers that you cannot stand right now? You mentioned that you don’t like bright trainers…
I don’t like Rihanna’s PUMA ones, I don’t really like those. And, I’ve seen some red trainers that aren’t very nice. Um, I really like the Chanel trainers, but I’m not gonna get them any time soon, they’re too expensive.
Who’s music vibe are you feeling right now?
I really like Solange’s new album, um love Erykah Badu, play her a lot in the shop, she’s my favourite and yeah, more soulful singers.
Are there any songs or any TV shows getting on your nerves right now?
Yes, that TV show where you see someone naked, Naked Attraction, I’m not into that, I don’t think you should have that on telly, I think it’s getting a bit too extreme. Especially, if you’re like young, everyone having kids and stuff you don’t really want kids to turn on the telly and seeing naked people. And, I think also it’s not right to judge someone by being naked.
What advice would you give to a younger you?
I would have said believe in yourself, it’s gonna do really well. Um, it’s quite scary, but just relax, and enjoy it.
Thanks for a lovely chat Imarni!
